Modern computed tomography is not just a scanner – it also includes accessories that reduce measurement time, increase the repeatability of sample settings, and enable in-situ testing (under the influence of temperature, power supply, pressure, or during a technological process). Below we present three groups of accessories that extend the capabilities of CT systems in R&D and quality control.

1) In-situ BOX chambers for testing under real conditions (temperature/power supply)

  • Simulation of real working conditions of the sample during CT scanning – without removing it from the system.
  • Testing the effect of temperature on the sample (climate/temperature control).

  • Version for battery testing (In-situ Battery BOX): supports 18650 / 21700 formats, max. current 8 A, ramp-up approx. 8 min (min→max), weight approx. 4 kg.

2) In-situ Soldering BOX – analiza jakości połączeń lutowanych podczas procesu

In-situ Soldering BOX służy do analizy połączeń lutowanych w radiografii rentgenowskiej – odtwarza proces lutowania podczas testowania, co ułatwia ocenę jakości połączeń i zachowania materiałów w czasie rzeczywistym.

  • Simulation of the soldering process during X-ray analysis – observation of changes in the joint ‘live’.
  • Precise temperature and pressure control – process conditions under control, easier interpretation of defect causes.
  • Fast ramp-up time – shorter test cycles and higher test throughput.

Applications: electronics and automotive (connectors), soldering process R&D, defect analysis (pores, discontinuities, changes in wetting), selection of soldering profiles.

3) SaguaroX – motorised XY translation table for fast and precise sample positioning in CT

SaguaroX is a motorised XY translation table for remote, precise sample positioning during CT measurements. It facilitates centring, repeatable settings and reduces measurement preparation time.

Key benefits

  • Dual-axis XY translation – convenient positioning without manual intervention.
  • Movement precision up to 10 µm + coordinate-based positioning (easy to return to the same points). 
  • Remote operation and quick sample setup – less ‘trial and error’ with settings, fewer repeat scans.
  • Wireless design + mounting allowing operation in a CT system with 360° rotation
  • Compatibility with a wide range of CT systems

The manufacturer indicates potential organisational savings: ~30 minutes per day and an estimated return on investment of ~6 months (depending on the method of operation).
