TroublePad – High-Speed Camera for Industrial Applications

What is TroublePad?

TroublePad is a solution based on a high-speed industrial “slow-motion” camera and a tablet with dedicated software. Together, they allow users to identify problematic areas on production lines, as well as detect potential opportunities for optimization. TroublePad can also be used alongside existing industrial monitoring systems.

Designed for ease of use, this intuitive and portable system was created with automated production line maintenance in mind. It enables the diagnosis and understanding of anomalies and faults on high-speed machines and automated production lines.

TroublePad is ideal for industries relying on continuous production lines, such as food, tobacco, cosmetics, packaging, pharmaceuticals, and more.

What TroublePad Can Do

TroublePad is supplied in a transport case with a hybrid laptop running intuitive software for full camera control.

The user-friendly interface enables:

  • Live image monitoring
  • Playback of previous recordings
  • Slow-motion replays to reveal issues that are invisible to the naked eye in real time
  • Quick and easy export of videos in AVI format, helping to save disk space

Thanks to its simplicity, the system can begin capturing footage just minutes after installation begins.

TroublePad is an adaptive, high-precision tool that delivers optimal performance. It can be integrated into an existing vision system or used as a standalone monitoring device.

Recording speeds can be adjusted from 225 to 2500 frames per second. Video loops can range in length from just a second to several hours. Recordings can be triggered manually by the operator or automatically with the optional TriggerBox.

What’s Included in the TroublePad Kit?

This ultra-compact system includes:

  • A high-speed industrial camera (up to 2500 fps)
  • A tablet with Windows® and pre-installed software for camera control and video export
  • A protective case and shoulder strap for the tablet
  • A flexible mounting arm (“magic arm”)
  • A 600-lumen LED illuminator with power supply
  • A variable-focus lens
  • A connection cable for the tablet and camera

All of this is housed in a convenient carry case. The standard kit weighs approximately 9 kg.

Installation takes just a few minutes, and the system is fully mobile thanks to its integrated directional LED lighting. It operates wire-free for up to 2 hours. For longer monitoring sessions—such as capturing random events that may occur over hours or even days—the system can be plugged into a power source.

TriggerBox Capabilities

TriggerBox provides full autonomous control of the system by:

  • Starting recordings
  • Stopping recordings
  • Adding keyframe markers
  • Saving footage a few seconds before and after receiving a signal from sensors

This means only the most important footage is stored. Using the TriggerBox makes it easier to quickly pinpoint areas on the production line that require adjustment—ultimately reducing downtime.

With TriggerBox, TroublePad becomes a fully autonomous system, capturing critical events automatically without operator intervention. This greatly increases its usability and flexibility.

Tablet Specifications

The system includes a 12” tablet with:

  • Intel Core processor
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 256 GB SSD
  • Protective case and shoulder strap

For users who need more storage, tablets with 512 GB or 1 TB SSDs are available. These extended configurations allow for longer recording loops. We also offer external specialist drives with up to 8 TB capacity, ideal for extended recording sessions.

The powerful software supports multiple frame rates and resolutions and can be operated manually or autonomously (with the TriggerBox).

Technical Specifications

From a technical perspective, TroublePad is a highly efficient and versatile solution. The camera supports recording speeds from 225 to 2500 fps.

Recommended settings:

  • 570 fps at 800 × 600 resolution (balanced performance)
  • 225 fps at 1280 × 1024 resolution (for high-definition recordings)

Other supported frame rates include 835, 1500, and 2500 fps, with respective lower resolutions.

The camera includes a built-in LED illuminator (powered by 5 AAA batteries or an external power supply). Light output: 600 lumens. Higher-output lighting options are also available.

To ensure maximum recording precision, the standard system includes a variable-focus macro lens. Other lenses are available to adapt the system to specific application needs. The mounting arm is a “magic arm” – a fully adjustable system with a single locking knob for quick repositioning of both the camera and light source.
